What are they?
A Medicare Supplement (Sometimes called a Medigap) Insurance is sold by private insurance companies to help pay some of the costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover like: deductibles, co-pays and co-insurance. This can be approximately 20% of your approved Medicare medical expenses that are not paid for by Basic Medicare.
All Medicare Supplement Plans are standardized by the government, so all plans are basically the same as they must meet standard guidelines except there can be many differences between each plan as they can elect to pay or have coverage that may include and or exceed government standards.
Some supplement policies also offer coverage for services that Original Medicare doesn’t cover. Need information? Want to compare?
